This is the basic script we followed for our wedding. We recruited the help of many friends and family members to come up with the ceremony details . |

Pre-Ceremony/Misc. a)
Pre-Ceremony (7:30pm
– 8pm) o
Lighting
– Slow disco ball to create star field effect §
Ryan
& Hayden (Padawan Jedis) will usher guests to their seats. §
Whoever
is judging the costume contest, should be walking around and checking
out costumes and getting names, etc.
before the ceremony and during the champagne toast. b)

Wars Scroller
announcing beginning of wedding (Starts @ 8pm or whenever crowd is
pretty much seated) ·
Justice
of the Peace enters dark stage before scroller starts & stands near
rear of platform. ·

spending considerable time together,
Queen Amydala and Darth Ben
have decided to wed out of love and
a mutual desire for peace between their
respective governmental bodies.
Emperor
Palpatine has decided to take this
opportunity to arrange a commitment
ceremony between them. Unbeknownst
to the two love-stricken leaders,
his hidden agenda is to insure a
stronger hold on the planet of Naboo
without a show of force,
which would
create sympathy for those opposed
to the control of the Galactic Empire. Under
the pretense of their love, the EMPEROR
has persuaded Queen Amydala and
Lord Vader that the signing of a treaty
to coincide with their union is in order.
The treaty would guarantee equal
control of Naboo by the current leadership
and Lord Vader, who has become
an apprentice to the Emperor. Emperor
Palpatine's plan is thus far proceeding
without discovery or objection. “Now
enters Lord Vader to begin the commitment ceremony ….” 2)

followed by Darth Maul and Jedis single file.

Queen
Amydala, Naboo Education Regent and Naboo Security Officer enter pausing
at stage right. Security

Bearer enters, followed by 2 Jawas throwing metallic confetti enter at
change in music. b)
Introduction JOP:
“Beings from across the galaxies, we are gathered here today,
under the authorization of Emperor Palpatine, and by the grace of the
supreme creator of our universe, to eternally unite Darth Vader, Lord of
the Empire, and Amydala, Queen of the sovereign planet of Naboo; thus
sealing the treaty between Naboo and the Galactic Empire.”
“The covenant formed by this marriage will insure peace,
protection, and prosperity for the sovereign planet of Naboo, by joining
it with the Galactic Empire. This historic union will secure the return of order and
centralized structure to the Galaxy and provide greater protection
against further hostility from the Trade Federation.” Captain
Piett
(David Treat): Objection!
Why must we pander to the wishes of this inconsequential planet?
Our fleet is now the ultimate power in the universe!” Darth
Vader (Ben):
“Your lack of faith is disturbing Captain Piett.
The power to conquer a planet is insignificant next to the power
of love.”
(Vader
Chokes Captain Piett, Captain Piett falls to his knees gasping for air) Emporer
Palpatine:
“ Vader, Release Him!” Darth
Vader:
“As you wish, my master” c)
Vows
JOP:
In accordance with the signing of the peace treaty, may the
records reflect that Lord Vader’s proper imperial birth name is
Benjamin Paul Efting, and that Queen Amydala’s common Naboo birth name
is Amy Simone Babin. Lord
Vader, are you prepared to enter into this covenant? Darth
Vader:

Queen Amydala, are you prepared to enter into this covenant? Queen
Amydala:
I am JOP:
Do you, Darth Vader, promise to insure peace,
prosperity, and safety to the Queen and people of
Naboo from this day forward? Darth
Vader:
I do. JOP:
And … Do you Queen Amydala, hereby affirm your
loyalty to Lord Vader and the Galactic Empire? Queen
Amydala:
I do. JOP:
Darth Vader, do you take Queen Amydala to be your
wedded wife? Will you
love her, comfort her, honor her, respect her,
and protect her planet from invasion or disintegration from this
day forward? Darth
Vader:
I WILL JOP:
And.. Queen Amydala, do you take Darth Vader to be
your wedded husband? Will
you love him, comfort him, honor him, respect him, and protect his
offspring from the Dark Side from this day forward? Queen
Amydala:

As a symbol of
their love and commitment to one another, Lord Vader and Queen Amydala
will now exchange Talismans.
May I have the ring please (to Darth Maul). §
Darth

This ring
represents the pledge of eternal loyalty, love, and protection for Queen
Amydala and the people of Naboo. §
JOP
hands ring to Darth Vader §

Vader puts ring on Queen Amydala Darth
Vader:
With this ring, our fates shall be intertwined for eternity. JOP:
May I have the globe of peace? §
Queen
Amydala hands globe to JOP §
JOP
holds up globe. JOP:
This
globe of peace represents equality, shared authority, and insurance of
tranquility and happiness. §
JOP
hands globe back to Queen Amydala §
Queen
Amydala presents globe to Darth Vader Queen
Amydala:
With this orb, I meld with thee for eternity. d)
Ceremony
Closing Hayden
brings up clipboard with marriage license and hands to JOP. JOP:
In
accordance with this union, the Emporer has requested the signing of
this peace treaty as a written agreement of loyalty between Naboo and
the Galactic Empire. §
Amy
& Ben and witnesses (Brian and Charae) sign “peace treaty” JOP:
By the
power of the force, and the authority of Emperor Palpatine, I pronounce
you husband and wife, Queen and King.
May you live a peaceful and happy life together and may the force
be with you always.

They form light saber archway near stage/ dance floor entrance. §

Distraction – Star Wars video with music dubbed in. Chairs
are cleared from Dance Floor, attention drawn to video screen until Ben
and Amy are ready for Champagne toast. 3)
Reception
(8:30pm – midnight) a)

8:35pm) Bridal
Party & Parents of Bride & Groom are seated in the balcony
section at long table near rail.
Darth Vader & Queen Amydala rise for toast.
DJ fades music slightly at this point, so that talking can be
heard. ·
Costume
Contest judge(s) should be finalizing their votes at this time – once
buffet is open people may start taking off their masks and stuff to eat. §
Ben
(wireless Mic) calls attention to the balcony for toast. o
Darth
Ben
– “Greetings beings from across the Galaxy.
We are honored by your presence at this ceremony today.
This will be a day long remembered.
It has seen the beginning of the alliance between the Galactic
Empire and the sovereign planet of Naboo.
Join us in a toast to celebrate this union and the love which it
represents.” §
Champagne
will consist of Andre Mimosa Royale with ½ tablespoon of blue Curacao
in each glass – will need someone to put
blue stuff in all the glasses before the reception. §
After
toast, either the DJ or Ben can make some sort of announcement that the
buffet is open. b)
Buffet
(8:45pm) o
Bridal
Party, parents & grandparents go first followed by rest of guests. o
Votes
for costume contest are tallied during buffet. c)
Cake Cutting (9:30pm) o
DJ
announces cutting of the cake to draw guests to table. d)
Costume
Contest
(9:45 pm) Designated
judges will simply walk around pre-ceremony and during the champagne
toast and pick their favorites in each category, and ask them for their
names, character name, etc. Score Sheets will be provided.
Votes will be tallied while guest are pigging out at buffet. i)

will be awarded on stage. Either
the DJ or some other volunteer, will go up with a microphone and
announce the winners. Winners will be given a certificate on stage (since we
can not really give them the droideka or battle droids right then).
They can pick up their prizes immediately after the wedding, or
from Benny and Brenda Babin’s house where they will be stored until
Amy and Ben are able to take them. The lightsaber will be handed out on stage. e)
First “Dance” (10:15pm) o
Ben
& Amy either Dance (if possible), or promenade around the dance
floor and take seats (put “thrones” on stage), where they can watch
the wedding party dance for one song (don’t want to be stuck up there
for too long). o
After
first dance, floor is opened up for general dancing and mingling f)
Passing of the Unity Orb/ “Bouquet Toss” (11:00pm) o
Queen
Amydala will throw “unity orb”
from the balcony for eligible bachelorettes to catch.
g)
Lowering
of the Lightsabers / “Garter Toss” (11:10pm) o

of the married groomsmen form archway with their light sabers.
Eligible bachelors form line and walk in circle through sabers.
DJ plays and then at some point stops the music.
When music is halted, Jedis lower their sabers, and trap the
eligible bachelor. h)
